Peyronie Disease
Just A Lump Or Something More Serious
A penis to men is probably the most important part of their body and for many
there are many more things to worry about than just wanting a
bigger penis. There are a
number of diseases and infections of the penis that men also need to be aware
of. One of these is Peyronie Disease.
Peyronie Disease is a hard lump that forms on the penis and usually develops
on the upper or lower side of the penis. The lump that characterizes Peyronie
Disease develops in the erectile tissue of the penis and will normally begin as
inflammation that later develops into a hardened scar.
Men who suffer from Peyronie Disease can have mild or severe cases and
symptoms can develop overtime or appear overnight. Causes of Peyronie Disease
are unknown and this disease is still being studied.
Peyronie Disease – The Symptoms
As previously mentioned, Peyronie Disease causes a hardened lump in the penis
and in severe cases of Peyronie Disease this can reduce the flexibility of the
penis. This in turn causes pain and forces the penis to bend during erection.
The pain caused by Peyronie Disease may decrease over time but the bend in the
penis has been know to remain a serious problem and in many cases can cause
problem during sexual intercourse.
The permanent bending caused by Peyronie Disease can lead to low sexual
confidence and can also cause extreme emotional problems with relationships.
It should be noted, that although Peyronie Disease is uncomfortable and can
affect sexual performance, the lump itself is not cancerous. Developing mainly
in middle aged men, Peyronie Disease is not something that you should take
lightly. If you think that you may be affected by Peyronie Disease then you
should consult your doctor for the appropriate treatment. Most doctors will aim
to keep you sexually active and surgery will only be recommended in long term
cases where Peyronie Disease prevents intercourse.
There have been suggestions that Peyronie Disease can develop following
trauma to the penis that has caused bleeding internally. Although this has not
been scientifically proven, you should be aware of this and take extra care of
your precious manhood. After all who wants to go through life unable to have
sex?
