The mention of the word circumcision is most often a feared subject for many
men. Circumcision is the removal of some or indeed the entire foreskin of the
penis and is normally carried in early infanthood. There are however many men
who opt to have a circumcision carried out in adulthood. There are many reasons
behind this but for many; health and cleanliness seem to be the main ones.
Circumcision has been practiced throughout history and is extremely common
among Muslim, Jewish, American, South Koreans, and Filipinos.
There has been a lot of controversy in recent years regarding circumcision
with many groups seeing circumcision as mutilation and there have also been
cases where baby boys have died as a result of circumcision.
Circumcision can sometimes be recommended in order to treat certain male
medical conditions such as inflammation of the penis, known as phimosis and
penile cancer. Circumcision is however a last resort and there are other
treatments that are considered first.
